Join the Library and Yolo County Archives to celebrate Women’s History Month 2026: Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future. Learn about the diverse contributions of women who are leading sustainability efforts through lectures, exhibits, book displays and a children’s reading challenge.
 
From March 1 through April 22, kids aged 0-18 are invited to read books about the environment and earn prizes. Stop by your local branch library to pick up a reading log.
 
Visit a Yolo County library branch to learn about local women making a difference in our community through sustainable farming, habitat restoration, land conservation, waste and emissions reduction, environmental regulations, and more!

In-N-Out Cover to Cover Reading Program

March 7 - April 18

Children ages 4 - 12 are invited to read 5 books or 300 minutes and receive a FREE In-N-Out coupon!
  • Sign up at any Yolo County Library branch and receive a reading log. 
  • After reading five books or 300 minutes, turn in your log and receive an ‘Achievement Award’ for a FREE cheeseburger/hamburger/grilled cheese or veggie sandwich.
  • Participants may earn up to three (3) coupons during this program.
Children unable to read themselves may participate by having books read to them.

Yolo County Library is partnering with United Way California Capital Region and UC Davis Students in VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) to offer free tax assistance to individuals and families with a household income of $68,000 of less. Dial 2-1-1, 1-855866-1783 or (530) 392-4182 for more information or to schedule an appointment at the location nearest you. Appointments are available in English and Spanish.

Use your artistic talents to empower your peers to get out and vote! Join YCL and the League of Women Voters as we host a county-wide student design contest focused on voter participation. Join us to hear from Dr. Chen about the Herstory 3 Exhibit. Herstory 3 celebrates the Chinese American women who fought and continue to fight for justice and humanity through the legal system.
 
Throughout March, an exhibit on this topic will be on display in the Adult Nonfiction area of the Stephens-Davis Branch Library.

Mighty Oaks: Woodland Women Preserving and Sustaining the City of Trees

Women Shaping a Sustainable Future. David Wilkinson with Beth Canevari & Marjorie Holmes Brown. Mighty Oaks. Woodland Women Preserving and Sustaining the City of Trees.
Through a series of archival and contemporary photographs, amplified by female voices drawn from David Wilkinson’s book, Gertrude’s Oaks, this program will trace the aspirations and accomplishments of women throughout Woodland history who led efforts to preserve and enhance the city’s landscape and quality of life. Presenters Wilkinson and Marjorie Holmes Brown, co-founders of the Woodland Tree Foundation, will be joined by another Foundation board member and tree planter, Beth Canevari.

The Farm-to-Fashion Movement

Women Shaping a Sustainable Future. Robyn Rominger. The Farm-to-Fashion Movement.
Award-winning author, agricultural journalist, and prominent local historian Robyn Rominger will discuss Sustainable Agriculture: The Farm-to-Fashion Movement. The farm-to-fashion movement aims to reduce environmental impacts by prioritizing sustainable agricultural practices, local sourcing, and ethical labor. Robyn’s presentation will conclude with a brief fashion show featuring natural-fiber clothing.

Every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Surprise Me Craft. Splotches of yellow and green paint in the top left and right corners with a cartoon paint pallet beside the center-aligned text.
Join us each Saturday for a different craft or activity. This is a drop-in opportunity to try something new! Supplies will be provided, just bring your creative spirit. Examples of activities include collages, clay art, melty beads, legos, and paper folding.
