Did you know that the Friends of the Yolo County Archives (FYCA) provide funding and support for extra help staff and projects at the county archives? Here are a couple of projects that the Friends have supported this past year:
  • Processing and digitization of the 3,846-photograph collection from the Woodland Daily Democrat. This collection contains proofs and prints of photographs that ran in the Woodland Daily Democrat from the 1970s to the 1990s, with the bulk of the collection being from the 1970s and 1980s.
  • Processing and cataloging of the Yolo County Cooperative Extension records from the 1930s to 1950s. This collection includes program files, correspondence, conference materials, publications, reports, maps, architectural plans for the Yolo County Agricultural Building, and aerial photos from the Cooperative Extension Service. The records contain information on crops, livestock, agricultural pests and diseases, farm labor issues (including prisoner of war labor during World War II and the Bracero Program), water and irrigation issues, and 4-H programs.

December is the time to join or renew your FYCA membership and become part of the effort to preserve and make accessible your local history!
