Volunteer for Literacy!

An adventure worth sharing: volunteer for literacy. Illustration of a young man and woman running past hills and trees sprouting from a large open book beneath their feet. The clouds in the sky contain the words
One in six Yolo County residents lacks sufficient reading and writing skills to carry out daily activities at work and home. Literacy services include Adult & Family Literacy and ESL classes. Participants often progress in their formal education and advance themselves and their families by obtaining better employment. Volunteers receive one-on-one support, training, books, and other learning materials, along with personal guidance in utilizing Yolo County Library collections and resources.

Program coordinator, Nancy Pacheco, shares, “Literacy volunteers mentor people with the skills and support they need to take their next step. Please consider volunteering to help adult learners improve their reading and writing skills to achieve their life goals."
