Summer Reading Program:
All Together Now

June 1 - August 15  |  For all ages

Remember to log your reading online and/or turn in your completed game board by August 15 to qualify for your finisher prizes and the Grand Prize Drawing. Summer Reading Program finisher prizes may be picked up at all branches through August 31 and drawing winners will be notified by August 31.

Conversation Backpacks

For kids ages 4-8 and their caregivers

If you’re the caregiver of a young child, you’ve probably noticed that they can ask some pretty tough questions! Discussing complex topics in developmentally appropriate ways can be tricky. Conversation Backpacks were designed help you start those big conversations while affirming your youngster’s curiosity.

Backpacks contain picture books and discussion tips on a number of themes, including: 

Body Boundaries & Consent, Bullying, Climate Change, Death & Grief, Disability, Divorce, Gender Expressions, Homelessness, Mental Health, Moving, Racism, Violence in the News

 

Pre-Beginning ESL Classes

Pre-beginning ESL classes are for adults who do not speak English as their first language. No personal documentation needed. Free class books included. 

 

Classes will be available at Esparto Regional Library, Knights Landing Branch Library, South Davis Montgomery Branch Library, and Winters Community Library.

Join Our Library ESL Volunteer Team!

Create impact in your community by helping non-native speakers gain the necessary English language skills to advocate for themselves and their loved ones in their day to day lives. All levels of experience welcome. Must be at least 18 years old, bilingual in English and Spanish, and passionate about teaching.

Student Success Library Card Design Contest

The Student Success Library Card Design Contest is open to students who will be attending school at a participating school district in 2023-24. The winner from each school district will receive a $100 gift card and have their design placed on all library cards that students receive in fall 2023.

Completed application and design must be received by Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Participating school districts:
Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD), Esparto Unified School District (EUSD), and Winters Joint Unified School District (WJUSD)

Applications may be downloaded by following the link below or picked up at the following library branches:

Start your child's love of reading with Imagination Library and your local Yolo County Library branch!

Enroll your child(ren) in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and they will receive one free book monthly until their 5th birthday. Eligible children are between 0 and 4 years 9 months and live in Yolo County.

Cruisin' into the Next Chapter Classic Car & Truck Show

Join us for this free family-friendly event featuring classic cars and trucks, a youth lowrider bike show, and antique fire trucks, tractors, and gas engines. Enjoy delicious food while listening to music performed by live DJs. There will be free books, balloon twisting, and activities for children. Participants will also be able to enter a donation drawing to win prizes, browse vendors, and purchase event t-shirts and Yolo souvenirs.
